History

Great Fire of London

We have been learning about the Great Fire of London. The children have become history detectives gathering evidence and trying to put clues together
to sequence the events of the fire.  They had lots of questions to ask characters from the Fire of London.

Topic - History & Science

FIRE!

Our topic next half term is FIRE!
We will be learning about fire safety, how materials change when
heated and about the Great Fire of London.
Here are the questions you have come up with to help direct your learning-

How is fire made?

Did anyone die in the Great Fire of London?
How can you put fire out?
                                         Why is it dangerous?
           Does everything burn?
When did the Great Fire of London happen?
Can fire burn bricks?
                                     Can fire be different colours?

                                                                      Which materials burn?

Pizza Making

As part of our topic on food we wanted to know about how food is made. We researched pizzas doing a taste test to see what makes a good pizza. We also gathered data in numeracy about favourite toppings before planning and designing our own pizzas.

After learning about instructions in literacy we were able to follow instructions to make pizza dough. We used our pizzas designs to decorate the tops of our pizzas. Everyone enjoyed learning about grating cheese and chopping up vegetables! Finally our pizzas were made and ready to be enjoyed.  Don't they look good!

Remember our top tips for rounding numbers to the nearest 10:

  • Look at the number
  • Decide which 2 tens numbers it lies between
  • Look at the end digit
  • If it ends in 1,2,3,or 4 round down
  • If it ends in 5,6,7,8 or 9 round up

CLASS CHARTER

Our class charter began as the seeds of our rights. It has now grown into our responsibilities. Look at our beanstalk showing our class charter. We have all contributed a leaf towards it to show we all agree to follow our class charter and to work hard to respect everyone's rights.

Numeracy

This week we've been learning about reading and writing numbers up to 100.
We have looked at what each digit represents in a number too.
Here are some of the activities we used to help our learning.
Have a go at them at home too.

Hello and welcome to Beanstalk Base!

Hope you have all had a lovely summer and are ready for a fantastic time

We are going to need to work hard this week to turn our classroom into a
