History, Geography and Art

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!
Our topic is about holidays and in particular the seaside.
We have looked at what it is about the seaside which makes it a popular place including identifying human and physical features.
We have compared the seaside now with the seaside in the past finding out about what it would be like to visit the seaside in the Victorian times.

We have designed posters in the style of
Victorian seaside adverts persuading people
to visit the seaside.  They explain what you can
do and how you can get there.

We have compared clothes at the
seaside now and in the past.
Seaside images using colour washes, wax resist and sand for texture.
The pictures have been sketched thinking about showing human and physical
geographical features.

Arts week

Have a look at some of the outcomes of the work we did in Arts Week.
We created shape poems describing the Northern Lights, created fabric collages and created music and dance moves to describe the lights.

Fabric Painting the Aurora Borealis

We looked at the shapes, colours and movement created by the Northern Lights before using what we'd seen to create our own images of them.

We used large brushes for a colour wash and then sprayed sprinkles of brusho and water sprays to create the bursts of light.

We enjoyed seeing the colours run and merge just as the Northern lights move across the sky.
